Photography
PHOtography as a physical representation of memory
I was born into a family where photography was much appreciated. Eventually my camera turned into an extension of my eyes. It is a medium I love experimenting with and both my graduation exhibitions included photography. So my portfolio would not feel complete without a few of my works during my time in graduate school.
Mimesis
Plato saw mimesis in representation of nature.
Photographs of nature-scapes taken in the Anatolian side of Istanbul are projected onto a model in a studio environment. The model becomes the canvas, welcoming nature on her body.
Glass
Fragility, transparency, and distortion
Manipulation and excessive data collection create a new consumer type that carries certain capacities of glass. “Glass consumers” are fragile, transparent and have distorted identities. All these characteristics mirror our vulnerability.
